We've sent you this link because your customer has supplied a PC managed by your company and wants our software installed on it. Please help us to prepare the computer for the installation of SHINING 3D dental software and hardware.
If the user’s account is restricted, you will need to complete the software installation and configuration on their behalf.
Before starting, please:
Grant free and unrestricted outbound internet access through the firewall.
Ensure that proxy servers, DNS filtering, SSL inspection, web filtering and application-control policies do not interfere with SHINING 3D software, licensing, updates or cloud services.
Configure the computer to use a standard, unfiltered public DNS service:
Cloudflare: 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1
Google: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
Temporarily turn off antivirus, endpoint protection, ransomware protection and application-control software for the entire installation and configuration process. You may turn these protections back on after installation is complete, but not during the installation.
Allow the SHINING 3D software to install its drivers, services and supporting components and configure the computer correctly.
Ensure that Group Policy, Microsoft Intune, security baselines, login scripts or other IT management tools do not block or reverse the settings applied by the software.
Configure every SHINING 3D application and associated executable to use the dedicated NVIDIA graphics card rather than integrated graphics.
Please complete the following steps in order.
Step 1. Install all Windows updates
You already know how to do this, but for completeness:
Open Settings → Windows Update → Check for updates. Download and install all available updates, then restart the computer.
Step 2. Update the NVIDIA graphics driver
Again, Completeness.
Confirm your graphics card model using Task Manager → Performance → GPU, or use our NSPECT system-checking tool.
Visit the official NVIDIA Driver Downloads page and select the correct product type, series and graphics card model.Download and install the latest driver, then restart the computer.
Step 3. Check the SHINING 3D software version
Download the latest public release of our software at https://support.shining3ddental.com/en/support/solutions/articles/60000706166-download-the-intraoralscan It is essential to download the software version developed for the computer’s specific NVIDIA GPU series. Software intended for an NVIDIA RTX 40-series graphics card will not run correctly on an RTX 50-series card, and vice versa. Confirm the installed GPU model before selecting the download.
Do not install the software if the computer has an NVIDIA RTX model ending in 50, such as the RTX 4050, RTX 5050 or another RTX xx50 model. These graphics cards are not supported and the software will not operate correctly. The computer must be upgraded or replaced with one that meets the published system requirements before installation can proceed.
Step 4. Run Computer Setting Optimisation
In the SHINING 3D software, go to Settings → Scan Settings → Computer Setting Optimisation. This will apply the various GPU and performance settings required by the software. None of these settings affects computer or network security.
Step 5. Test the computer settings
Go to Settings → Scan Settings → Start Testing and confirm that the computer passes the performance test.
Final step . Turn off Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling
Only after every other installation, update, graphics configuration and optimisation step has been completed, open:
Settings → System → Display → Graphics → Default graphics settings
Confirm that Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling is turned off, then restart the computer.
This does not mean disabling the dedicated NVIDIA graphics card. All SHINING 3D applications must remain assigned to the high-performance NVIDIA graphics processor.
Once you have completed these requirements, please notify your customer. We will then complete the hardware installation, calibration and training.
