Choosing the Right UP3D Milling Machine For Your Business

Choose your milling machine around the materials you need to mill, the number of cases you produce and how much work you want completed without an operator present.

The P55D suits production with manual disc changes. The P53DC adds automatic disc changing for higher volumes and overnight production. The P42Plus wet mill handles block-based restorations and premilled titanium custom abutments. The IronCore i5 Pro provides wet milling for blocks, PMMA, titanium and cobalt–chromium, including All-on-X titanium bars and metal frameworks.

Machine

Material capacity

Materials

Main reason to choose it

P55D

One 98 mm diameter disc, 8–30 mm thick, or up to six blocks in a block holder

PMMA, zirconia and PEEK

Dry milling where an operator is available to change materials

P53DC

Automatic changer holding up to 12 discs; 98 mm diameter discs, 8–30 mm thick, or up to six blocks in a block holder

PMMA, zirconia and PEEK

Automated production across multiple discs, including overnight milling

P42Plus

Up to three blocks or one premilled custom abutment

PMMA, lithium disilicate and premilled titanium custom abutments

Wet milling for block-based restorations and custom abutments

IronCore i5 Pro

One 98 mm diameter disc, 8–30 mm thick, up to six blocks in a block holder, or up to six premilled custom abutments

Block materials, titanium, cobalt–chromium and PMMA

Wet milling for metal restorations, All-on-X titanium bars, partial frameworks, blocks, and PMMA

P55D for production with manual material changes

The P55D is a practical choice for clinics and laboratories milling zirconia, PMMA and PEEK where someone is available to load the next disc or block holder.

It holds one disc at a time. Several restorations can be nested within that disc, but once the scheduled work is finished, an operator must change the material before production can continue on another disc.

Choose the P55D when its capacity matches your workload and manual changeovers fit comfortably into your working day.

P53DC for higher volumes and overnight production

The P53DC is the choice for businesses that need milling to continue beyond staffed hours. Its automatic 12-disc changer allows prepared jobs to run across multiple discs without an operator performing each changeover. UP3D positions it for automated, high-volume production.

For commercial denture production requiring unattended overnight milling of PMMA denture bases, choose the P53DC. Load the required discs, prepare the milling queue and ensure the tools and extraction system are ready before leaving the machine to complete the scheduled work.

The single-disc P55D can mill denture bases, but it requires manual disc changeover. It can complete work on the loaded disc overnight; it cannot automatically move on to another disc.

P42Plus for lithium disilicate and custom abutments

The P42Plus is the choice when your workload centres on lithium disilicate restorations, PMMA blocks and premilled titanium custom abutments.

It accommodates up to three blocks or one premilled custom abutment. For titanium work, the starting material is a compatible premilled blank with its implant connection already manufactured. This is a different workflow from milling a titanium bar or framework from a disc.

A P42Plus can also complement a P55D or P53DC, providing a separate wet-milling workflow alongside dry disc production.

IronCore i5 Pro for wet milling and metal production

Choose the IronCore i5 Pro when your workload includes titanium, cobalt–chromium, All-on-X (AOX) titanium bars, block-based restorations or wet milling of PMMA. It suits clinics and laboratories producing implant bars and metal frameworks alongside restorative work.

The IronCore i5 Pro can also complement a P55D or P53DC by providing a dedicated wet-milling workflow while the dry mill continues producing zirconia, PMMA and PEEK cases.

Why unattended operation can deliver more output

A machine configured for continuous production may use a slightly slower feed rate and still achieve higher daily throughput than a faster single-disc machine. The advantage comes from the additional hours spent milling and the removal of delays between discs.

For example, a single-disc mill may finish its loaded work quickly but then sit idle until someone changes the disc. An automatic disc changer can continue through its prepared queue into the evening and overnight.

An appropriately sized spindle may also draw less power during cutting. However, lower energy cost per case depends on the complete installation, including milling time, extraction and compressed air.

The useful comparison is therefore finished cases over a full working day and overnight period, together with operator time and running costs.

Which machine should you choose?

Choose the P55D for zirconia, PMMA and PEEK production where manual material changes suit your workload. Its single-disc capacity is a practical choice for clinics and laboratories with an operator available to load the next material.

Choose the P53DC when you need automatic disc changes, higher daily output or commercial denture production that continues unattended overnight. Its 12-disc changer allows you to queue work across multiple discs and extend production beyond staffed hours.

Choose the P42Plus for lithium disilicate blocks, PMMA blocks and premilled titanium custom abutments. It suits clinics and laboratories focused on these applications, either as their main wet mill or alongside a dry mill for zirconia and disc-based production.

Choose the IronCore i5 Pro when you need wet milling of titanium, cobalt–chromium, blocks and PMMA, including All-on-X titanium bars and metal frameworks. It suits businesses bringing metal production in-house and can work alongside a P55D or P53DC to keep wet and dry production running independently.
