Don't buy a fake!

Osseo Group has noticed an increase in fake Woodpecker devices sold online and by distributors in Australia and New Zealand.

Whilst the fake products may look like high-quality products, they have been reported to be made of inferior materials and poor standards. The fake products are incompatible with genuine Woodpecker devices and pose a great risk to the doctors’ and patients’ safety.

The DTE division of Woodpecker is particularly susceptible to counterfeit products. DTE products are only sold in developing countries; any DTE products found in the Australian market have been illegally grey imported by doctors or distributors.

Major concerns and potential harm caused by fake products.

  1. Fake handpieces can destroy the device and lead to an abrupt change in power and electrical leakage, which may cause serious injury to teeth or other medical accidents.

  2. The materials of fake products have not been tested for biocompatibility and may contain toxic and/or other harmful substances, which could lead to irritation or poisoning.

  3. Quality issues with overheating, non-vibration, rusting and cracking lead to circuit burn-out and the device becoming ineffective.
